UNESCO: Non Formal Middle School Education in Myanmar

Since 2012, UNESCO Bangkok has supported a local organization based in Myanmar in implementing a pilot project, “non-formal middle school education (NFME) programme” in Myanmar. The programme is designed to provide the country’s out-of-school children (OOSC) aged 14 to 16 with access to non-formal education that is equivalent to a formal lower secondary education. Once learners complete the programme successfully, they can transfer to the formal education system (i.e., upper secondary) to pursue their education. This project is expected to end in June, 2019.
